SB South Thanksgiving Week

SB Flies a KiteThough it was a short week, it was a great one here at South Bend South. We wrapped up the three days with a student-lead “Family Day” with our first session students. The students gathered together to play games that challenged them to get to know each other and depend on their classmates. We also had a time at the end where we discussed the activities and what we had learned throughout the day. It was a great opportunity for our group to come together and build into our community.

During second session on that same day, we took six students over to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana and helped pack mailers that would go out in the next month. This time of service offered another opportunity for our students to build into each others’ lives. We worked together, talked about various subjects, and had a great time helping this excellent organization.

When we came back from the service project that afternoon, the art class had just finished building their kite with Mr. Burlingame. We spent the last few minutes of the day testing it outside, and it was a fun way to head into the Thanksgiving break. We had a great three-day week, and we are looking forward to finishing this quarter up with great enthusiasm.
