Micro-businesses are student-run companies offering various products and services to the community while providing our students with “hands-on” opportunities to lead, develop career skills, and experience entrepreneurship. Students participating in micro-businesses start thinking like business owners, and they develop skills in problem solving, communication, time management, conflict resolution, and customer service.
Firewood
With guidance from staff, students participate in every step of the process: splitting logs and stacking wood to be air-dried, bundling for delivery, and marketing the product. Students don’t just do the labor; they are also involved in developing a sales strategy and marketing the product.

Students work closely with staff to assemble parts needed for the assembly of hot tubs. The parts are sold to Master Spas for hot tub installation. Students manage their own P&L and learn how to communicate effectively.

Woodmizer Milling
Students organize and trim lumber felled by our tree team into beautifully balanced wood cants. Making the consistent, long, straight cuts takes discipline and focus. Our Woodmizer Milling business builds these traits and more into our students.
