April 3, 2020

Dear Parents, Students, and Crossing Family,

We are proving this update to support your child and family as we understand that there is a great deal of uncertainty right now regarding schools in Indiana.

As you know, we are now on Spring Break until April 13th at which point we will resume E-Learning with your child.  Why E-Learning? As many of you know, Governor Holcomb issued an executive order to close Indiana’s school buildings for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.  As a result, the Crossing has formally amended our student school calendar.  The last day of school for students is now May 28th. We will conduct E-Learning Monday through Thursday every week through May 28th. Students may choose to continue E-Learning for unfinished coursework through June 10th but doing so is optional and all courses will close on June 10th.

The Indiana Department of Education and the Crossing are committed to seniors graduating on-time as long as they complete their assignments and earn their required credits.  Seniors are responsible to finish any coursework assigned by instructors via E-Learning. Job Training in-person requirements will be waived but online work via E-Learning is required.

We understand that this style of learning is new to our students, your family and our teachers.  As we prepare the coming weeks of Elearning, there are a couple of things you can do that would greatly benefit your student and your family:

  1. Please work hard to secure an internet connection.  Many companies are offering free internet services for the next several months.  Check out our website, crossingeducation.com in the coming days where we will post resources.
  2. Please secure a device for your student to use. You may not have a computer or tablet personally, but we would ask that you do everything you can to borrow or purchase a device prior to April 13th.  We are also working hard to gather devices to distribute to students in need.

In addition, we have an incredible resource called RightNowMedia.org.  This is a platform with 20,000 awesome videos that you and your family have access to through the Crossing.  Faith, leadership, family, Bible, finance, etc. Please reach out to your location staff for access. We will provide a user account for you and your student.  This is a great way to spend time over Spring Break and during this quarantine.

We also encourage you to monitor local resources for food and other services you may need at this time.  If you are unable to secure needed resources for your family, please contact your local staff and they will do their best to serve you.  You may also call our corporate office at 574-226-0671.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work through uncharted territory together.  We are praying for you and we wish you a safe and enjoyable Spring Break. Stay in touch with us via all of our usual digital communication channels.  Call us, text us, email us, google chat with us, facebook message us, etc. We look forward to staying in touch with you in the coming days!

Sincerely,

Ryan Hill
