The 2018-19 school year has begun at our 18 locations across the state! Our current enrollment is 800 and building daily. We expect to serve 1,500 students this year with daily active enrollments between 900 and 1,000 students. We are very excited to have this level of reach in our 15th year of service! Students are coming to us from all walks of life with individual needs and desires. We are grateful that our structure allows us to meet the needs of each individual as they arise through programming in Faith-Based Character Education, Job Training by way of robust Career Pathways, and Diplomas. It is because of the support of our valued donors, you, that we are able to provide the support systems, hope and success pathways that our students and families need.
This year, you will see increases and improvements in the Career Pathway programs offered at each location as we prepare our students for success and meaningful contribution in your community after high school. In fact, we now actively describe the Job Training component of our mission as Career Pathways. Why? The Crossing is uniquely aligned to Indiana’s focus on workforce development and we are honored to be a collaborative partner and service provider at the high school level.
Our programs support initiatives led by Governor Holcomb, the Department of Workforce Development, and the State Board of Education to target Indiana’s high school students. We deliver on our promises daily by placing student teams with Job Training Instructors directly into businesses in your community. We call this our satellite model. Our current partners in this co-located model are Master Spas, Gaylor Electric, Jasper Plastics, Thor Motor Coach, and the Sibley Center. We also became the first Earn and Learn participating high school in Indiana through our partnership with Stewart’s Healthcare. Additionally, we have four Entrepreneurial Training Centers in Elkhart, Gary, Fort Wayne and Argos where students run businesses that produce industry integrated products and services within the local community. In short, we are breaking out of the traditional “brick and mortar” high school structure to authentically meet the needs of various industries in your community by training a workforce with well developed hard and soft skills.
